She’s not real. But don’t tell the HR department — she already has an ID badge and a fan club on the company Slack.

Mila was born as a character in a corporate e-learning program.
She’s friendly, curious, and unusually effective at explaining complex topics in a way that doesn’t make you want to yeet your laptop out the window.

She talks to users, gives tips, asks questions, and—according to post-course feedback—”makes learning less painful.”
What a compliment.

But then something wild happened.
The client was organizing a real-world event and asked:

“Can we bring Mila
 to life?”

BOOM. Cross-Reality Experience unlocked.

💡 So, what is a Cross-Reality Experience?

It’s when a character or element created in the digital world is brought into the physical world, keeping its personality and function, but now interacting with actual humans in the real world. Y’know — outside the screen.

In Mila’s case:

  • She became a life-sized interactive totem, where people could take selfies and scan QR codes to hear her speak.
  • Certain spaces at the event included gamified installations linked to Mila’s in-course missions.
  • She even popped up on holographic-style LED walls, welcoming attendees like she was the queen of onboarding.

đŸ€č‍♂ Why does this work so well?

  1. Narrative Continuity
People already knew Mila. Seeing her “in the flesh” (okay, cardboard) created instant familiarity and joy.
  2. Immersion & Engagement
When the virtual meets the real, the brain goes “Whaaat?!” — and that, my friend, is the sweet spot for attention and emotional connection.
  3. Branded Storytelling
Mila wasn’t just a training tool anymore. She became a mascot of company culture, walking the line between education and entertainment.

đŸ› ïž How can you apply this?

  • 🎼 Corporate Learning
Bring your e-learning characters to life during training weeks or onboarding events.
  • đŸ›ïž Retail
Create a digital mascot and place it in your store as an interactive point of engagement.
  • đŸŽ€ Events
Let your digital characters act as MCs, live guides, or
narrators from alternate dimensions (hey, it works for me).
  • 🚀 Marketing Activations
Deploy your characters at booths, product launches, or summits — and give attendees something to remember.
